I needed a dermatologist who could perform an allergy test (not a prick test). I made this clear when I called to schedule the appointment, and they told me they could do it. I was given an appointment for the winter, when they typically offer these tests. Since I live quite far away and there are no other dermatologists in my area who perform this type of test, I had to drive three hours to get there. It would have been worth it if, after waiting for half an hour, the doctor hadn't told me they didn't offer the test. So, I wasted six hours (!) for absolutely nothing, and naturally, I couldn't get an appointment anywhere else for the winter. I'm so outraged that I even added it to my to-do list to leave a bad review for this practice, and that was six months ago. I'm still furious. I wouldn't recommend anyone make an appointment there.

Yesterday, I wanted to personally make an appointment for my wife at the doctor's office (she's already a patient there) because it's impossible to reach anyone by phone (I tried 600 times). The receptionist told me that no more appointments are being offered this year, not even to existing patients. Appointments are only available with an emergency referral, and we should ask our family doctor to issue one instead of a regular one. Apparently, every family doctor is doing this now. Ours, however, said he doesn't. I consider this practice absolutely outrageous and a rip-off of the health insurance companies, since family doctors receive a flat fee for such a referral, and specialists receive a similar fee. It's strange that appointments are only available with such a referral. So, anyone with a decent family doctor who doesn't participate in these practices is clearly at a disadvantage. I will also be complaining to the health insurance company and the medical association about these practices.
