I was a guest at a friend’s wedding that took place nearby. My friend and her partner are both vegetarian and went to the restaurant beforehand, ate their food, and talked to them about the big post-wedding lunch they were planning to have there. According to my friend, it was communicated that there would be some dietary restrictions, so I was relaxed until the time came to order. I’m vegetarian and lactose intolerant and prefer to eat vegan food. On the day, I looked at the menu hoping to find marinara pizza listed (tomato sauce on crust, that’s all). It wasn’t there. I asked the waiter if it would be possible to make Marinara pizza for me, and double checked: only tomato sauce on the crust. At first he said no. Then I asked again, he said he’d have to check with the kitchen because it was a special order. At this point the restaurant was close to empty apart from our group. He never told me anything else, then later (I was literally the last person on the table to get my food) came to the table with a pizza and shouted “ohne alles???” He did that while laughing to himself. Thinking he was so funny. When I grabbed my pizza, the crust was normal size, almost burned to a crisp, and there was maybe 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce in the center. It was horrible. Later we had another issue which was they said it was cash only, even though they had card machines which were clearly turned on and we saw other people paying with their cards. They also charged me the price of a margheritta pizza, which doesn’t make any sense. UPDATE (this is a reply to your reply): thank you for trying to understand, but why do you assume I don’t speak German? I ordered my food in clear German and explained what my dietary restrictions were. Shouting “ohne alles” when bringing a customer their order (as if I was making up a complicated order instead of the perfection and simplicity of a marinara pizza, which is what I was asking about) is not nice and in fact quite rude.
Good, tasty pizza. Definitely one of the better pizzas we had in our lives. Service was a bit on the slow side - they forgot our order, we waited, and waited and finally had to remind them. The worst part was the unpleasant ladies' rooms. Dirty toilets and not one sheet of toilet paper. Kind of ruined the experience.
It was great. Pizza was delicious, lasagna was outstanding. Pizza sauce was great. The owner is fluent in at least 4 languages (German, English, Italian, Albanian) and chatted with us for awhile ( we are American) and brought out some grappa to cap things off!
